Favourites Biography Tim is a prehistorian with a strong international public profile. He leads research projects and publishes widely on the archaeology of early farming communities in northwest Europe and on archaeological resource management. He has undertaken pioneering research into the history and development of Stonehenge and other related Neolithic monuments. His research takes him to many parts of Europe, and he has directed projects in Germany, Russia, Greece, Malta, England, Wales, and the Isle of Man in order to answer key questions: Why were ceremonial monuments first constructed? What role did material culture such as pottery and stone play in the lives of Neolithic communities? And what symbolic meanings did particular materials have for those who selected and used them? The central issue here is how people understood, structured, and occupied the landscapes they created for themselves. Tim holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of Southampton. In his spare time, Tim enjoys walking and music; he plays guitar in a rock-blues band.

The reconstruction of the chronology of historical buildings is a tricky issue, as usually there are not historical documents that allow the assessment of construction phases, and some materials are hardly reliable for the use of dating techniques e. However, in the last two decades, important advances on the use of absolute dating methods on building materials have increased the possibilities of reconstructing building chronologies, although some advances are still scarcely known among archaeologists and architects.
Recent studies performed on several kinds of mortars, fired bricks, mud-bricks, and even stone surfaces have shown that it is possible to date them. Both radiocarbon and luminescence dating have been the most frequently used techniques but others such as archaeomagnetism can also be used in some cases. This paper intends to give an overview of the recent achievements on the use of absolute dating techniques for building materials.
Introduction Mud, wood, or rocks among others are typically naturally occurring materials used in ancient and historical buildings.

This paper deals with the analysis and interpretation of the significant pottery finds from historical periods. Among these, Early and Middle Medieval sherds are particularly numerous, together with a few fragments belonging to the Roman and Late Antiquity periods. Most vessels can be ascribed to the NW Iberian medieval gray ware and we have been able to identify morphologies previously unknown in the extant bibliography.
Moreover, the stratigraphic context of many sherds is rather informative, since they were recovered from pits that have been C14 dated, therefore allowing associating those sherds with absolute dates. The case study of Reza Vella Ourense, Spain provides valuable information about the uses and the role of plants in a funerary context in northwest Iberia. Archaeobotanical data from Roman cemeteries in this area are very scarce, but they provide valuable information on the funerary customs introduced by the Roman Empire to the provinces, and how this interaction could be reflected in the management of firewood.

The trail varied between beautiful woodland and gravel paths through smaller towns. I loved the variety of conditions and walking alongside narrow shallow creek beds that danced with reflected light and foliage amid their pebbled substratum. Fun and games to keep us peregrinos amused on the Camino. Not only do the number of accommodations soar after Sarria but they rival each other in uniqueness and charm. Some are more modern, some have lush landscapes and gardens, and some huge patio cafes that served up an amazing selection of food and drinks. The ambiance has certainly become more festive even if the skies were still overcast.
Everyone still mostly seemed to be seeking cover! And speaking of celebrating, just after Ferreiros, I arrived at the kilometre marker! While I felt excited, it also somehow felt bitter sweet to be nearing the end of my journey. The flowers, especially the hydrangeas, were gorgeous too. As I sat to enjoy my wine and food, I was happy to help another pilgrim out again that had worn through her shoes, by providing some duck tape that I had wound around my hiking poles.
It did the trick and secured the top of her shoes back onto her soles to at least get her to a place where she could replace them.
A Round Iron Age: Within the theoretical and methodological frameworks of landscape archaeology and the archaeology of architecture we propose an updated social reading of the archaeological record based on new data collected in the course of recent archaeological investigations at different sites in Galicia. We propose several hypotheses from this perspective concerning different issues linked to northwestern domestic architecture, including the origins of the round house in recent prehistory, the development of an Iron Age architectural style, the symbolic background of these houses, and the impact of Romanization on what eventually becomes the architecture of the High Middle Ages in this part of the Iberian Peninsula.
Keywords Galician Iron Age, hillforts, circular house, domestic space, archaeology of architecture, landscape archaeology The old house is deserted here, the old house stands in silence, asleep. The old house used to be so nice, before, standing there, it was so nice.

It wouldn’t surprise me if “medical science” even came up with a “bi-gender” person, and what then? Clay Shannon May 18 ’15 at There are bigender people already, more commonly known as intersex people they have biological manifestations of both genders , and likewise, you would use the gender the person would prefer. Furthermore it can’t be concluded, because it is not always a norm, that a generic noun which accepts both genders via ‘El’ and ‘La’, can be transformed into a feminine noun.
A simple proof that this conclusion is flawed would be: Therefore, such statement couldn’t be considered a proper answer to the OP’s original question. We see then that stating a fact quoting RAE , doesn’t explain the reasons for its existence. Such understanding would require a deeper analysis of the social frame, historical background and contemporary challenges we, as a whole individuals, organisations and governments , have been facing due to strong movements for equality of gender, feminism and the democratisation of culture Internet has only accelerated this process.

The stadium was to be rebuilt stand by stand, commencing with the north and south stands in Unfortunately, whilst all the building was taking place, on-field progress was gradually being dismantled. Relegated from La Segunda after just the one season in June , the club made valiant attempts to return, falling in the play-offs in four of the next five seasons. The season was however a disaster and the club was relegated to the Tercera.
However, ask the fans of Pontevedra CF and they would swap this splendid new arena for a place back in La Segunda in the bat of an eyelid.
